Mark spotted a gap in the market and has turned his artistic flare and engineering skills into a growing business enterprise. Having spent a large part of his working life in high-tech industries, the last five of which as Research & Development Director for a successful medical device company Mark sought a new challenge.
When the company was bought-out releasing his ties with the company Mark took the plunge.

ďIíve spent quite a bit of time in Portugal and had always admired their huge ceramic vases and urns, then after moving house I sought a large decorative item for what was a very large blank canvass of a space in one room. I wanted a piece of artistic furniture rather than a wall decoration and I also wanted the piece to bring warmth and atmosphere, but couldnít I find anything suitable despite countless hours searching so set about creating my own.

The rest is history as they say, Iíve now established a growing collection of truly sublime decorative lamps created my own brand identity and started my business on the strength of this. I use modern manufacturing methods as well as the more traditional craft skillís and yes I incorporate some of the Portuguese vases into my work.

At the moment my lamps are mainly of a modern/contemporary design but I can also produce classic period pieces. All my lamps are of large physical size, they are statuesque elegant decorative pieces that have a strong presence of their own and can provide a rich source of atmospheric lighting at the flick of a switch or slide of a dimmer control. All components are made to the correct scale right down to the light fittings which are custom made yet accept industry standard bulbs including the new low energy/high efficiency bulbs. I donít manufacture all the components myself simply because of the diversity and complexity of the materials and processes involved, but do work with skilled craftsmen and women and increasingly so with some of the top fabric design houses and ceramic artists to create my bespoke lamps.
