Pauline Churchill
Hereford born artist Pauline Churchill completed her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree, as a mature student, at Hereford College of Art and Design this year (2007).
In 1973 she trained as a china painter at Royal Worcester Porcelain. She went on to teach and work as a fine china and porcelain artist at Hereford Fine China in Ledbury.
Pauline comments:
"I use colour to capture a moment in time, a memory, an event, a fragment of life with proportions of colour and form. My aim is to use colour in the same way that Dylan Thomas uses words in abstractions to create a scene."
"A tune on an ice-cream cornet. A slap of sea and a tickle of sand. A fanfare of sunshades opening. A wince and whinny of bathers dancing into deceptive water. A tuck of dresses. A rolling of trousers. A compromise of paddlers. A sunburn of girls and a lark of boys. A silent hullabaloo of balloons." Extract from 'Holiday memory' by Dylan Thomas
