Carla Sealey
Carla Sealey is an applied artist who designs contemporary glass pieces. She is a firm believer in the approach that everything around us should be functional and beautiful, believing that art isn't just something to put on the wall to look at but something that should be part of our everyday life: something that we can use and take pleasure in.
"I explore kiln forming techniques with glass to produce pieces that explore the boundaries that define the social, cultural and spiritual spaces we occupy. I produce functional pieces such as bowls, where I use colour composition, shadow and the light cast by glass to evoke visual and cultural memories. The light cast by my pieces is important as a way of blurring the boundary between the physical piece and the surrounding space".
Carla is a Licentiate member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
